The newest iPhones are coming this year and everyone is wondering, what will Apple do next? With the newest iPhone announcement anticipated to come in September of this year, rumors are already swirling around what we can expect for the 2019 iPhones. Names

So, what will these new iPhones be called? Well, no one is quite positive. The best guess by most is that the new release will include the iPhone 11, 11 Max and 11R. However, some believe that the phones will be referred to as iPhone XI, XI Max and XIR.

Design

Overall, most rumors conclude that the general design of the newest iPhones will not differ much from the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR models. The latest leaked mock-ups of the 2019 iPhones appear very similar to recent iPhones models. Specifically, the front of the iPhones have little to no change from the 2018 iPhones, other than the possibility of a slight increase to the size of the phones. It does seem that the newest iPhones will still have OLED displays, also.

Mute Switch

One change anticipated for the 2019 iPhones involves the mute switch on the side. Rumors are that the newest iPhones might have a new mute switch, which could be a rounded switch, similar to that of the switch found on the newer iPad.

Front-facing Camera

There could be change coming to the front-facing TrueDepth camera. The front-facing camera could be even smaller and more minimal on the upcoming iPhones, which would mean the possibility of a smaller front “notch”, which many have complained about the size of on the 2018 iPhones. Also, many expect that the TrueDepth camera on the 2019 iPhones will be 10 or 12-megapixel, which would be a nice upgrade from previous models.

Rear Cameras

The greatest rumored change that is anticipated for the 2019 iPhones is in regards to the rear cameras. Many believe that the newest iPhone will feature a triple-lens rear camera. With this additional lens on the rear, will supposedly come a rounded square “camera bump”, essentially a square glass cover over top of the lenses on the back of the phone. If this is true for the 2019 iPhones, it appears that the new “bump” feature would make the lenses more flush with the back of the phone, which would make the device even slimmer. Similarly, an additional lens should make for an even better quality camera than in previous models, of course.

Price

The cost of iPhones has been a hot topic since the 2018 iPhone release, with the iPhone XS Max costing up to $1449. Many say that the 2019 iPhones will be released at a similar, if not exact, price point as the 2018 iPhones. However, some suspect that Apple might lower the price point of the newest iPhones, since iPhone sales have fallen short since 2018, according to various reports. If this is the case, it could make the newest iPhone models more attainable for consumers at a lower price point.
